Just Can't do it!

Hey Ladies,

I've decided I need to let some things go from my life. It's been too busy with work and family, so I'm letting Book Club go. If anyone else wants to up and grab it and keep it going, please do. I don't even have time to read any more.

The Hostess

We didn't have a hostess for February, sorry ladies. I'm still figuring this out. I'm going to take a more hands off approach to book club. I've been somewhat busy lately, so if you pick a month, I'm going to let you do the work. :) So, here are the things you will be responsible for...

Hostess responsibilities:

Get invitations out 2 weeks prior to Book Club (or try) :)
can be an evite, email, or snail mail...whatev (I can get you the addresses)

Pick a book when you pick a month (I'm canceling the voting option, we're just going to read what the hostess wants)

Prepare refreshments- it's fun when the food correlates with the book in some way

Have discussion questions ready


So if you want to host, please reply to any of these posts and I'll put you in the side column. As soon as you know the book you want, I'll post that up there, too.

Do you want to host?

If you would like to host, please pick a month. We usually have Book Club The 4th Thursday of the month at 7pm. I've been tempted to switch to Tuesday. I'll put a poll on the side so you can vote Tuesday or Thursday. We'll stick with the 4th Tuesday or Thursday, though, for all of us procrastinators.

When you sign up for a month, list 1-3 books you'd like to read. I'll put up polls from there so that we can vote on our favorite. Please add links to amazon or wherever might have a good synopsis of the book.

The start of a new year

Alright ladies. 2009 has begun and it's definitely time for change. I still love book club and want to keep it going, but as you know, I have a history of sending really late evites...or not-at-all evites. I just wanted to change things up. Here are some ideas:

• Compile a list of books we want to read for the whole year
• Have hostesses also picked out for the year
• We do the hostess's book pick at her house, she sends out the evites, prepares the food, leads the discussion, etc
• Switch the day, maybe? Tuesday?

I'm open to all kinds of ideas. Please share!
